Ward’s style has evolved naturally on Savile Row for over 20 years, honing his skills to build a resume that includes royalty, rockstars, designers, actors and entrepreneurs.
As well as acquiring a reputation as a prominent Senior Cutter on Savile Row, David’s ability to translate the traditional values of Savile Row tailoring into the arena of contemporary design has enabled him to consult with some of the most progressive designers of our time. David has worked more notably with Christopher Kane, Henry Holland, Kim Jones, The Kooples and Nike.
Below is a small example of some of the people David has cut for.
In spite not being a warrant holder for the palace, David made two suits for HRH Prince Phillip.
Prior to the death of Alexander McQueen, David was the Savile Row cutter for McQueens own personal suits.
Agnus Deane for Henry Holland
Jenny Shimizu for Christopher Kane
Gerry McGovern, Design Director for Land Rover
After helping translate the designs for several of Christopher Kanes collections, David also made suits for Christopher himself.
This is the original design sheet form a period look book that David used to create the outfit for Lord Grantham in Downton Abbey. The image is in fact the sartorial beginnings of Lord Grantham's striking white tie and evening tails that became the centre piece of Lord Grantham's wardrobe.
Whilst the senior cutter at Huntsman, David had the pleasure of working closely with the costume designer for Downton Abbey to cut the period White tie and evening tails for the character Lord Grantham played by Hugh Bonneville. The outfit became the sartorial show piece for the show and above is a picture as requested by Mr Bonneville of him and David after the first fitting.
To David, from Hugh.
