Individualism. "the action or principle of asserting one's independence and individuality".
It is without doubt that deep within the contents of a mans wardrobe, the one item of clothing that the individual will pride himself on is his suit and especially the merits of its origin and an authentic Savile Row suit needs no introduction. David Ward who has cultivated many years experience as a prominent senior cutter on Savile Row does not try to re invent the wheel nor pander to the assumption of a house style to convey a degree of conformity. A bespoke suit that is entirely cut and made by hand is something that should only take into account the individual and the individual alone. The true essence of a bespoke garment is that it is a one off garment. No generalised measurements or block patterns make an appearance during the suits creation.
A clients wishes, aspirations, desires and expectations are listened too and then chalked and cut out of cloth to create something truly unique. In today’s fast paced business world Savile Row has been impacted as corporate brands with corporate ideas jostle to wear the moniker of the “Savile Row Tailor”, with neither qualification, skill nor pedigree to honour that title. David Ward is a young authentic Savile Row cutter who can evidence all of the above. In an industry that has become diluted with made to measure philosophy, the prospect of an individual who possesses the skill and knowledge of the old and awareness of the new is a refreshing sight upon a street who's heritage has sadly diminished significantly in recent times. His dedication and passion for the industry he loves has led David to start out on his own and reclaim 200 years of excellence from the impersonators.
David Ward will guide you through all aspects of styling and detailing of your bespoke piece and demystify the arcane language that exists on Savile Row. He will explain your crown from your rise and your depth of scyce from your down right. In addition to how you want the suit to look, you will also be guided by David on selecting the cloth of your choice from an extensive range of the worlds most exquisite worsteds in order to compliment your desired style.
Once this is complete, a clients measurements are then taken and an individual paper pattern is cut to interpret the clients preferred style. Once the pattern has been "striked" on to the cloth (as shown above) and cut out by hand, extra cloth "Inlay" is left to permit the suit to be altered at a later date if needed. The cloth is then given to the relevant tailors and is readied for a fitting. New client orders will consist of 3 fittings to ensure that correct standards of fit and comfort are met. During the fittings, flashes of chalk strike the cloth and communicate the suits next step in its evolution. The client will be patiently guided through this process and the suit will evolve from understanding the clients wishes and expectations coupled with the cutters eye to execute exquisite fit.
